ICCC organises B2B meetings between Canadian & Indian
small businesses for visiting TPCI and FIEO delegations

Toronto: Indo-Canada Chamber of Commerce organised B2B meetings for a trade delegation led by the Trade Promotion Council of India (TPCI) and the Federation of Indian Exporters Organisation (FIEO) from India on 9 and 10 September 2019.

The TPCI delegation comprised 22 companies from the Food and Beverages sector and the FIEO delegation comprised 13 companies from diverse sectors such as engineering, food and beverages, furniture.

Ms. Apoorva Srivastava, the new Consul General of India in Toronto, who took charge as the Consul General on 30 August, inaugurated the FIEO B2B meetings on Monday 09 September 2019 at ICCC’s offices in Etobicoke. Mr. Saifullah Khan had inaugurated the B2B meetings with TPCI on 22 August 2019.

Participating in her first official business meeting as the new Consul General, Ms. Srivastava said her focus is to work to enhance the bilateral economic relations between Canada and India. Mr. Saifullah Khan, the Commercial Consul, at the Consulate General, was also present along with other diplomatic and government organisations.

Both the Consul General and the Commercial Consul lauded the positive role of the ICCC in promoting bilateral trade relations between Canada and India. The delegation also visited the Consulate General of India in Toronto and had a formal session with the diplomatic corps later in the week.

Mr. Pramod Goyal, President, Indo-Canada Chamber of Commerce, while welcoming the new Consul General and the TPCI and the FIEO delegations, said that the ICCC is focused on promoting small businesses in both Canada and in India because of the value that small businesses add to both the economies. Following the formal inaugural ceremony, the Consul General, visited all the exhibitors and interacted with them to know more about their products, services, and their expectations of participating in the trade mission.

After the speeches and the interactive session, the B2B meetings commenced. For both the trade delegations, the ICCC had organised at least four meetings for each of the companies that was part of the delegations. In the evening, the Chamber hosted a business reception for the visiting delegates to enable the Indian companies to interact with Canadian entrepreneurs and professionals.

For the FIEO delegation, Mr. Pramod Goyal, Mr. B. K. Sethi, Director, ICCC, and Mr. Surinder Sharma, a veteran community leader, made presentations to the delegates on 10 September 2019. These presentations were about the strategies that Indian exporters should adopt to enter and consolidate in the Canadian market.

The ICCC had, in collaboration with the Consulate General of India in Toronto, also organised meetings with different bilateral organisations, export promotion zones and economic development departments for the FIEO delegation.

The delegates had an interactive roundtable with the members of the Canada India Foundation, the City of Brampton Economic Development department and the Brampton Board of Trade, all of which were arranged by the ICCC. The ICCC also arranged for the delegates to visit the Niagara Region Export Zone to get first-hand information about the export opportunities in the Niagara region.
